Psalm 1:1-2

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

A favored song, meal, or relationship. All bring delight to our lives. So much that we make them the object of our affection over anything or anyone else. So today, where do you find your real delight? If I’m truthful, I would say that I do run to many idols that replace Jesus with lesser things that are intended to bring blessing.

Psalm 1 is a beautiful reminder that the only real delight in life comes from knowing Him through careful and regular time spent with Him in His Word. To combat my inclination to run to “the counsel of the wicked,” regular Bible study with other men makes all the difference. This discipline keeps me focused on Him by meditating on “the law of the Lord.” Doing so brings hope, joy, security, peace, and yes, delight. Spend time with our Savior today as you let the glory of His Word transform your heart and your life.

Lord, let us find our delight in You alone. Let our time in the Word be one that reminds us of your great love for us and that you are enough! Amen.
